Guest Blog Post from Hannah At Family Food Freezer
Hi! My name is Hannah and I am so excited to be here and share with you my 10 Most Popular Gluten Free Freezer Meals! I run a blog called Family Food Freezer where I focus on meal planning and simple healthy freezer recipes! Meal prep with freezer meals has changed my life because of the freedom and time it has gifted our family.
No more thinking through dinners last minute, no more slaving in the kitchen every night, just pop a gluten free freezer meal in the slow cooker and viola! Dinner is made, takes about 60 seconds! Now you may be thinking that I spent lots of time meal prepping to make these freezer meals possible…NOPE, no more than 10 minutes prep per recipe! Every meal I share with you today also takes just minutes to prep!
In fact I am usually able to prep two meals in less than 10 minutes!
Imagine being in the kitchen to meal prep for two hours a month! Because, on top of less cooking you will eat healthier as a family if you start making meals to freeze.
Want to Get Started?
Two years ago we began eating gluten free 90% of the time (with the exception of a couple sweet treats here and there…) physically and mentally I feel better than ever! Meal prepping gluten free meals is extremely easy!
In fact, if you start finding substitutes one ingredient at the time you will discover how natural the transition can be to gluten free living. I promise with these recipes you wont even miss the gluten lol.
If you’re currently on a food journey and interested in gluten free living you can start by replacing common items in your pantry. But don’t get overwhelmed because that doesn’t mean overhauling your fridge today and throwing out everything.
My MUST Have Ingredients for Gluten Free Freezer Meals
Just take it one ingredient at a time. Here are a couple of my favorite gluten free alternatives to help you get started while you are exploring gluten free living.
Use tapioca flour instead of cornstarch. It will work the same way and has great flavor. Tapioca flour is also a wonderful ingredient to use in gluten free baking because it offers great texture and great flavor. You can also use arrowroot flour!
Coconut Aminos are the perfect substitute for soy sauce. Because yes, even soy sauce has gluten hidden in it. This is one of those things we just don’t think about. I mean soy sauce just has a lot of salt right…. As a result this great healthier substitute for any recipe that calls for soy sauce!
Red Lentil Pasta
For all you pasta lovers out there here is my favorite textured gluten free pasta. Texture is a big thing for me and some gluten free pastas can break apart or come out tasting more mushy then pasta. Try red lentil pasta! Comes out so great, tastes like pasta and even stays good for leftovers the next day! There are a ton of gluten free pasta options out there, however, this is just my personal favorite!
Almond flour and oat flour have great texture and flavor in gluten free recipes. These are some of the best flour substitutes I have used to date. Try searching for gluten free almond/oat flour recipes and see if you like it better then all-purpose gluten free flour. I’m not a huge fan of the gummy texture some all-purpose gluten free recipes end up with which is why I prefer almond/oat flour.
